So far I’ve resisted the temptations of Twitter, mostly because I can’t think of much that I can say in just 140 characters. Actually, I can barely write a lead sentence that short.
But I might have a new attitude after watching ABC’s new reality show, “Conveyer Belt of Love,” which premiered Monday. (ABC didn’t make the premiere available for review, a “duck the critics” strategy that I complained about before.)
Having seen the show, though, 140 characters is more than enough to sum up my feelings. So here goes:
Seen dumber shows, but not much. Kept wishing the conveyer belt — or my TiVo — would speed up. Get why guys are odd, but why the gals too?
Must confess, Twitter reviews would certainly make my life on the critical conveyer belt easier.
Ratings-wise, “Conveyer Belt of Love” averaged 6.5 million viewers and a 2.7 rating among adults age 18-49, dropping 25% off its “The Bachelor” lead-in by the latter measure. That’s not bad (the demos topped a “CSI: Miami” rerun and “The Jay Leno Show”), but not quite good enough to firmly take both feet off the conveyer belt just yet.
