CBS’ Moonves to Retire … in Less Than 30 Years

I got quite a chuckle out of New York Times reporter Bill Carter’s latest valentine to CBS, in which CBS CEO Leslie Moonves was quoted as saying in regard to franchises like “CSI” and “NCIS:”

“These shows will be generating revenue for this company 30 years from now. Some idiot will be sitting here looking at this list like I look at ‘The Honeymooners’ and ‘I Love Lucy,’ and saying, ‘Look, Moonves they’re still producing revenue.’”

First, there’s a crumb of news in there: Moonves plans on not being at CBS in 30 years. So unlike his boss, he has no intentions of working until he’s 90.

Second, I still think there’s a pretty good chance that the “idiot” reaping those rewards 30 years from now will be Sumner Redstone.
