Snooki, the Situation, Paulie D. and the whole gang came across as a group who’s in on the joke, and not to be taken lightly. As evidenced by their recent pay raise, they know everything “Jersey Shore” is a business, and won’t be shortchanged while the network rakes in millions.
Topics covered included Snooki’s recent arrest (“Obviously, it wasn’t a good time but I didn’t hurt anybody. It was just fun on the beach. Stuff like that happens in Jersey. What are you gonna do?”), the negative stereotyping of their culture and her portayal on “Saturday Night Live” (“I loved it”).
“We’re not trying to portray Italian American, just being ourselves,” said the Situation. Added MTV programming topper Tony DiSanto: “It’s not a show about Italians but a reality family comedy with heart.”
As for where they see themselves in the not-too-distant future, Snooki said she was only a semester away from getting a degree in becoming a vet technician and would welcome a job where she gets to work with animals. Several of the cast said they could see the show lasting a minimum of five seasons.
As for legitimate news to come from the sesh, newest house member Deena Nicole Cortese was officially added to the cast.
In its second season where the gang had headed to Miami, show continues to be a ratings hit for the cabler. On July 29, 5.3 million viewers tuned in and it’s the No. 1 show this year in the 12-34 demo.
