Syfy’s ‘Smackdown’ premiere wrestles down rivals

Friday primetime produced a smackdown of the broadcast networks in more ways than one.

Syfy's two-hour premiere broadcast of "WWE Friday Night Smackdown" drew 2.5 million viewers overall and outdelivered all the broadcast networks in men 18-49.

Almost 1 million viewers in the demo watched "Smackdown," compared with 731,000 for the top broadcast offering to that audience, the CW's "Smallville" at 8 p.m. "Smackdown" also bested Fox's "The Good Guys" among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m.

The broadcast made Syfy No. 1 in cable among adults 25-54 and No. 2 in adults 18-49.
