Saturday’s Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle extravaganza included visions of Rob Lowe and Maria Shriver in tight bike pants and David Hasselhoff, Carl Lewis and Kenny G singing the National Anthem. The brainchild of Anthony Shriver, Maria’s bro, Best Buddies is a nonprofit dedicated to helping people with disabilities; many of those (and their families) came along for the ride, which included a 100-mile bike race, a concert by Natasha Bedingfield and a chance to swim in Hearst’s legendary Neptune Pool high above San Simeon.
Before his race, Lowe recalled past years: “I was paired with Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Talk about pressure! She was, what, 80? Let me tell you, she really wanted to win! I guess that runs in the family, huh?”
