OWN is going on another Oprah-dose.
Oprah Winfrey’s farewell from daily talkshow life will be chronicled in a weekly primetime series, “Behind the Scenes: Oprah’s 25th Season,” to air on Winfrey’s OWN when the cabler launches in January.
“Oprah’s 25th Season” will showcase life on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” as it winds up its daytime run, with attention not just to Winfrey but also to all aspects of production, making featured players out of some of the personnel that put together the program.
OWN also said it has added four potential hourlong series to its development slate, including “Kid-napped,” based on a Blighty format in which working parents are forced to shut down all contact with their jobs in order to focus on their children. Love Prods. is behind the show.
Also in development is Pilgrim TV and Film’s “Miracle Detectives,” a drama in an “X-Files” vein about a skeptic and a believer who investigate mysterious incidents.
“Search,” from Stuart Krasnow Prods., proposes to follow people from diverse backgrounds trying to find closure with a person from their past, such as a lost love or missing family member. And “Sentenced,” exec produced by Rasha Drachkovitch for 44 Blue, focuses on real-life stories about women in prison.
