Oh, it’s on! CBS announces fall launch dates, goes Premiere Week like everyone else

It’s finally official: This year’s fall TV premiere week promises to be one, massive clusterfWATCHYOURMOUTH! CBS has announced its roll-out plans, and as typical of the Eye, the majority of its launch will take place during premiere week.

Actually, if anything, CBS’ launch roll-out is less traditional than some of the other networks. That’s because its “Survivor: Nicaragua” will launch a week before fall, on Sept. 15 (that’s actually been a custom for “Survivor”), while its Sunday night sked won’t be fully in place until Oct. 3.

For its premiere week Sunday sked, CBS is finally acknowledging that football overruns generally play havoc with the night’s lineup. For week one, “60 Minutes” will air from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., while the “Amazing Race” preem will go for 90 minutes, from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. That means, for once, TiVo users won’t get screwed. (But after premiere week, all bets are still off.)
