Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, formerly known as Chad Johnson, is upping his reality quotient by headlining “The Tournament” for VH1. Show will have Ochocinco traveling the country to meet 85 women and then each one will be eliminated via a March Madness bracket. Eventually he will end up on a final “championship” date split between two women before crowning a winner.
Looking to move beyond his sports-centric fan base, Ochocinco — a three-time Pro Bowl player — was recently announced as a contestant on the new season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
Cabler has ordered 10 episodes of “The Tournament,” and hourlong skein is skedded to launch in July.
“His bigger than life personality on and off the field, and his notorious skills as a social networker, connecting daily with his fans, makes him a perfect fit for VH1,” said Jeff Olde, exec VP of original programming and production.
