Nick and Nick will make like Frick and Frack a little longer.
Nickelodeon has extended Nick Cannon’s run as chairman of the cabler’s TeenNick channel through January 2012.
Cannon, the actor, musician and producer who assumed the chairman’s role in March 2009 at the age of 28, will continue to work in all aspects of development on TeenNick’s platforms. Cannon also hosts “America’s Got Talent” for NBC.
“Nick is a quintessential millennial and has a unique connection to this generation,” said Nick/MTVN Kids and Family Group president Cyma Zarghami. “We are confident that his … vision and ideas will continue to make TeenNick one of the most popular destinations for teens and tweens, on-air and online.”
Among other endeavors, Cannon co-created, exec produces and hosts the annual TeenNick Halo Awards, and fills similar roles on the channel’s weekly summer series “The Nightlife.”
TeenNick’s most recently completed quarter was its highest-rated ever with total viewers and teens 12-17.
