Lawrence O’Donnell’s 10 p.m. program on MSNBC has a title and an airdate: “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell” will preem Sept. 27 on the news cabler.
The skein is produced by “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” alum Izzy Povich and will feature O’Donnell’s commentary on the day’s issues. The show will air opposite Fox News Channel’s “On the Record With Greta Van Susteren” — presumably MSNBC hopes to provide a lefty counterpoint to the net’s right-leaning commentary.
The slot has been set aside for re-airs of “Countdown.”
“Lawrence is one of the rare hosts in cable news who has been in the room when policy is created,” MSNBC prexy Phil Griffin said. O’Donnell was senior adviser for Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.) and chief of staff to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
