“Sex and the City” alum Kristin Davis is attached to star in and produce a laffer for NBC and Universal Media Studios about a woman’s yearlong quest to become happier.
“Chuck” scribe Kristin Newman is in talks with the studio to write and exec produce the pilot. Untitled single-camera project is based on the real-life experience of Gretchen Rubin. A former law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Rubin embarked on a quest to explore the nature of happiness while writing a book, “The Happiness Project,” published by HarperCollins in January. She also launched a related blog, Happiness-project.com, that piqued Davis’ interest.
Davis will serve as a co-exec producer on the project. Mosaic will co-produce with UMS, with Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and Dave Fleming, who rep Davis, also exec producing.
Rubin and her lit manager, Christy Fletcher, will co-exec produce.
UTA packaged the project and reps all of the principals.
