Jada Pinkett Smith starrer will get its usual 10 episode-order. Show, about a hospital nurse battling budget cuts and tending to ill patients, has been averaging 3.5 million viewers, enough to give the Turner net confidence in a new season.
Skein, produced by Sony Pictures Television, is an established drama complement to summer hit “Rizzoli & Isles,” which was one of the biggest freshman launches of the year. Net has also renewed “Memphis Beat,” starring Jason Lee as a Southern cop.
Upcoming pilots include “Perception,” from Kenneth Biller (“Star Trek: Voyager”) and an untitled drama from Allan Loeb (“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”). Cabler is also reviving “Dallas” from writer Cynthia Cidre.
Longtime hit “The Closer” continues to perform well in its sixth season. On the kudos front, star Kyra Sedgwick won her first Emmy in August.
“Hawthorne” is exec produced by Pinkett Smith, John Masius, Glen Mazzara and Jamie Tarses.
TNT has yet to make a decision on “Dark Blue,” which ends its second season tonight.
