Hasselhoff roast draws 3.5 million on Comedy Central

“The Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff” drew 3.5 million viewers Sunday night, an improvement from the 2.8 million who watched last year’s Joan Rivers fete.David-hasselhoff-20060918-161704

The roast, which featured a dais that included regulars Greg Giraldo, Lisa Lampanelli, Whitney Cummings and Jeffrey Ross, was the top attraction among men 18-34 on all of TV and basic cable in 18-49.

Hasselhoff, who took the ribbing regarding his drinking and acting and in stride, was a better attraction than Rivers in terms of overall viewers, but not as strong as the other previous roastees: Larry the Cable Guy drew 4.1 million earlier in 2009. The all-time most-watched roast is the approximate 6.2 million who watched Jeff Foxworthy get torched in 2005.

Traditionally, the network does very well with DVD sales of the roasts. Numbers are high as the unedited version of the soiree is allowed on disc but not on the cabler.
