The ‘Stache is plotting his series return to CBS.
As has been in the works for days, “Magnum P.I.” star Tom Selleck is in talks to join the cast of the CBS drama pilot formerly known as “Reagan’s Law.”
Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green are behind the untitled project, in which Selleck is expected to play NYPD police chief. Drama, about a Gotham cop family, also stars Donnie Wahlberg, Flex Alexander, Len Cariou and Bridget Moynihan.
Leonard Goldberg exec produces with Burgess and Green through CBS TV Studios.
“Magnum” ended its run in 1988, but Selleck has continued to have a presence on the Eye through the years — most recently, as the star of seven “Jesse Stone” movies. The next installment, “Jesse Stone: No Remorse,” is set to air May 9, while another, “Innocents Lost,” is already in the can. And this just in: CBS is now looking at the possibiilty of an eighth installment of the “Jesse Stone” series as part of Selleck’s pilot deal.
Selleck previously starred in the short-lived 1998 sitcom “The Closer” for CBS. More recently, he appeared on NBC’s “Las Vegas” and ABC’s “Boston Legal.”
It’s flashback fever at CBS this pilot season, as William Shatner is also on the Eye land.
