The Encore pay cabler will commemorate Industrial Light & Magic’s 35th anniversary with “Industrial Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible,” a Tom Cruise-narrated doc that airs Nov. 14. Leslie Iwerks directed.
The hour-long doc features interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, J.J. Abrams, Jon Favreau, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, Jerry Bruckheimer and John Lasseter, as well as ILM staff, with behind-the-scenes footage from ILM. Doc explores visually pioneering films such as “Avatar,” “Jurassic Park” and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”
ILM, founded by Lucas in 1975 to create the effects for “Star Wars,” has also received 23 scientific and technical Academy awards.
The docu’s 8 p.m. preem will be followed by a marathon of five pics with ILM-heavy vfx: “Jumanji,” “Hook,” “Jurassic Park III,” “Twister” and “Starship Troopers.”
