Disney’s latest telepic adaptation from its Disney Channel library will be “The Suite Life Movie,” starring Dylan Sprouse, Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, Debby Ryan and Phill Lewis from the cabler’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “The Suite Life on Deck” series.
Production will begin this month, with a premiere scheduled for next year on the Disney Channel.
Most recently among these types of adaptations, “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie” ranked No. 1 in 2009 among total cable viewers (13.5 million) and kids 6-11 (5.32 million), as well as the top scripted telecast in the 9-14 demo (4.64 million).
Michael Saltzman, who wrote the story for “The Pink Panther” movie and exec produced “Murphy Brown,” will co-write “The Suite Life Movie” with Robert Horn (Broadway’s “13,” “Designing Women”).
Sean McNamara will direct. The Sprouse twins are getting exec producer credits with Pamela Eells O’Connell, Irene Dreayer and Jessica Rhoades.
“The Suite Life on Deck” kicked off its third season in July and is in the top five in the kids 6-11 and 9-14 demos.
