CBS won Easter Sunday in the primetime ratings race behind “Undercover Boss” — the night’s top show — and “Amazing Race,” though both were on the low side as overall viewing levels dropped.

According to preliminary nationals from CBS, “Undercover Boss” (3.9 rating/10 share in adults 18-49, 12.9 million viewers overall) hit a low with the show’s penultimate episode of the season but was still well above everything else both in its 9 o’clock hour and for the night. The Eye net also led in most categories from 7 to 9 p.m. with “60 Minutes” (1.4/5 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) and “Amazing Race” (2.7/8 in 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall) and placed second at 10 p.m. with an original episode of drama “Cold Case” (2.3/6 in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall).

At NBC, following a low-rated “Dateline” (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall), alternative series “Minute to Win It” moved up to a 1.8/5 in 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall. And “Celebrity Apprentice” (2.8/8 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) picked up from there, moving to a comfortable demo lead for its second hour.

ABC was competitive in the evening’s opening hour with a repeat of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (1.3/5 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall), and from 8 to 10 p.m. with a two-hour episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (2.3/7 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall). But a repeat of “Brothers & Sisters” didn’t do much closing out the night (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall).

Fox burned off another original hour of “Til Death” (0.6/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall), followed by repeats of “The Simpsons” (1.4/5 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall), “The Cleveland Show” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) and “Family Guy” (2.2/6 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall). And at 9:30 p.m., an original episode of “Sons of Tucson” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) fell way off to rank fourth among the broadcasters.

Also of note in ratings over the weekend was a strong performance by college basketball’s Final Four games Saturday on CBS. The Butler-Michigan State and Duke-West Virginia games averaged a 9.7 household rating/19 share in Nielsen’s metered markets — up 8% from last year for the event’s best showing in five years.

The championship game, pitting Duke against Butler, airs tonight on CBS.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: CBS, 2.6/8; NBC, 2.0/6; ABC, 1.8/5; Fox, 1.3/4; Univision, 0.8/2.

In total viewers: CBS, 10.1 million; ABC, 6.2 million; NBC, 5.9 million; Fox, 3.0 million; Univision, 2.1 million.
