CBS repeats rock Monday

'Big Bang,' 'Men' top primetime ratings

The other nets may have been heavy on firstrun programming, but CBS rode repeats of its in-season lineup — anchored by “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory” — to capture the final Monday of August among young adults.

According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, CBS was competitive in the night’s opening hour with encores of “How I Met Your Mother” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) and “Rules of Engagement” (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall), both of which were up week to week. They were followed by repeats of “Two and a Half Men” (2.6/7 in 18-49, 9.0 million viewers overall) and “The Big Bang Theory” (2.8/7 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall). And at 10, a repeat of “CSI: Miami” placed first among the broadcast nets (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall).

In addition to winning among adults 18-49, CBS also prevailed with adults 25-54 and total viewers.

ABC ran second on the night in demos with its two-hour “Bachelor Pad” (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) followed by “Dating in the Dark” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall). The former was up slightly week to week in total viewers, likely due to the in-show reveal of the next “Dancing With the Stars” cast.

Fox did little at 8 p.m. with a “House” repeat (1.3/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall), but picked up some at 9 p.m. for an original episode of “Lie to Me” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall).

And NBC struggled with a two-hour repeat of “America’s Got Talent” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) and newsmag “Dateline” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: CBS, 2.0/6; ABC, 1.8/5; Univision, 1.7/5; Fox, 1.5/4; NBC, 1.3/4; CW, 0.4/1.

In total viewers: CBS, 6.9 million; ABC, 5.4 million; NBC, 5.2 million; Fox, 4.6 million; Univision, 4.3 million; CW, 1.0 million.
