CBS wins ratings with reality skein, PGA coverage

CBS won every primetime halfhour but one Sunday, finishing the night first in overall viewers and adults 18-49, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.

In results skewed slightly by an overrun in CBS’ coverage of the PGA Championship, CBS was topped in 18-49 only by a 9 p.m. rerun of Fox’s Family Guy (2.3 rating/6 share in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall).

However, the Eye’s “Undercover Boss” (2.3/6, 7.9 million) rallied in its second halfhour (2.4/6) and leapfrogged another “Family Guy” (2.3/6, 4.9 million).

“Undercover Boss” and “Family Guy” were the demo’s highest-rated programs for the evening.

Following golf, CBS started off primetime with “60 Minutes” (1.9/7,

10.2 million), Sunday’s preliminary leader in overall viewers. The newsmag topped ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (1.4/5, 5.6 million), Fox’s “American Dad”/”The Simpsons” combo (1.0/3, 2.2

million) and NBC’s “Dateline” (0/9/3, 4.4 million).

“Big Brother” (2.1/7, 9.4 million) then led 8 p.m. programs, ahead of Fox’s “The Simpsons” and “The Cleveland Show” (1.8/6, 3.8 million for the hour), ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (1.6/5, 5.2 million) and the first of three similarly rated reruns of NBC’s “Law and Order:

Criminal Intent” (0.9/3, 4.4 million).

In its season finale, ABC summer series “Scoundrels” (0.8/2, 2.8

million) at 9 p.m. had the lowest demo rating of any primetime show Sunday, just behind “The Gates” (0.9/3, 2.6 million) at 10 p.m. CBS led the night’s final hour with “CSI: Miami” (1.6/4, 5.3 million).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: CBS 2.0/6, Fox 1.7/5, ABC 1.2/4, NBC 1.0/3, Univision 0.5/2.

In total viewers: CBS 8.2 million, NBC 4.7 million, ABC 4.1 million, Fox 3.6 million, Univision 1.4 million.
