ABC News has promoted Jonathan Karl to senior political correspondent.
Karl will cover Capitol Hill and report on national politics for all of ABC’s broadcasts and platforms.
He will also have a regular guest spot on “Good Morning America” on Tuesdays leading up to the election.
Karl, a former interim anchor for “GMA,” will continue reporting on the midterm elections and generating stories for “Your Money,” in which he tracks the use and abuse of taxpayer funds.
“Jon’s institutional knowledge of Congress has distinguished our reporting from the Hill,” said ABC News head David Westin in an email to staff. “He brings that same depth of knowledge and tenacity to national politics.”
Karl joined the net in 2003 as senior foreign affairs correspondent covering the State Department.; in 2005, he began covering national security. Before joining ABC, Karl covered politics for CNN.
