NBC Universal Intl. has upped Gareth Neame to a new role as managing director U.K., responsible for the expansion of the studio’s U.K. initiatives in drama, comedy and entertainment.
Neame will retain his job running Carnival, the shingle specializing in drama acquired by NBC U in 2008.
Move is further evidence of NBC U’s ambitions for production in Blighty and follows the appointment of Michael Edelstein as prexy of international TV production in June.
Edelstein and Neame will recruit three senior execs to spearhead entertainment, comedy and drama.
Carnival is riding high in Blighty thanks to period saga “Downton Abbey,” which made an impressive bowed on ITV1 on Saturday.
