Fox Broadcasting has ordered a pilot presentation for an animated comedy that stems from the production partnership between Reveille and Machinima.com.
“Heel” revolves around a man and his sociopath dog who is jealous of his owner’s family. Script was penned by Chris Cluess (“The Simpsons,” “Mad TV”).
Reveille and Machinima cut a development pact last year under which a group of 15 scribes are developing projects using the Machinima technique that allows for real-time animation rendering using videogame platforms ( Daily Variety , June 12). “Heel” was ordered by Fox on the strength of Cluess’ script even before it was produced by the Machinina.com Comedy Lab venture.
Cluess will exec produce, along with Carolyn Bernstein and Todd Cohen for Reveille and Machinima.com’s Allen DeBevoise and Andy Shapiro. “There’s a huge appetite out there for new, original, animated content created in a cost-effective way,” said Cohen, veep of scripted programming for Reveille.
