At least one NBC staffer has hopped over to Team Coco: Drew Shane has been named director of publicity for Conan O’Brien’s new TBS yakker.
Shane formerly served as senior press manager for NBC Entertainment Publicity, where he worked with O’Brien’s team on both “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and on O’Brien’s seven-month stint as host of “The Tonight Show.”
In his new gig, Shane will be an employee of O’Brien’s Conaco shingle and oversee the day-to-day press and publicity of the host’s still-untitled show. He’ll also play a role in the show’s launch plans.
The O’Brien show will air Monday through Thursday on TBS starting Monday, Nov. 8.
Shane had been with NBC Universal since 2004. Beyond O’Brien’s shows, he also worked on series such as “Last Comic Standing” and “Community.”
Shane’s resume also includes working as the publicist on “Last Call With Carson Daly” and “NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly.”
“Drew Shane is a seasoned professional that served NBC Universal and did a tremendous job with the ‘Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien,'” said NBC press and publicity topper Rebecca Marks. “He navigated a turbulent time with great integrity and character.”
He joins Team Coco starting July 19.
