ABC, CBS and NBC will simulcast the second live Stand Up to Cancer telethon at 8 p.m. Sept. 10, two years after the original helped raise more than $100 million for cancer research.

Network news anchors Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams will co-host the one-hour telethon (taped to air in primetime on the West Coast), which will also be carried by cablers including HBO, E!, Discovery Health, Style and the MLB Network.

Laura Ziskin is exec producing, and a cavalcade of stars to match the 2008 telethon is expected.

“Our goal with this telecast is to not only to continue to raise funds for more and better research,” Ziskin said, “but to show viewers how their money and individual action will make — and indeed have already made — a difference.”

The telethon pledges 100% of all public donations to cancer research. More than 170 countries aired the 2008 Stand Up to Cancer telecast.

A similar telethon effort in January on behalf of Haiti earthquake victims raised more than $57 million in the first 24 hours after it aired.
