“Without a Trace” alum Poppy Montgomery has been found — and cast in ABC’s cop drama pilot “True Blue.”
Montgomery will play Katherine Miller, San Francisco’s only female police captain. The character struggles to juggle her job and her personal life, having recently been divorced.
ABC Studios is behind “True Blue,” which follows six cops who were once best friends and then reunite to solve a friend’s murder. Jon Feldman, Chris Brancato and Bert Salke exec produce; Peter Horton is directing the pilot.
Marc Blucas (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) has also been cast in the pilot. Montgomery spent seven years on “Trace” and also starred as Marilyn Monroe in the CBS mini “Blonde.”
In other casting news, Taryn Manning (“Sons of Anarchy”) is close to being added to CBS’ “Hawaii Five-O” redux.
Manning will play Mary Ann McGarrett, Hawaii State Police Det. Steve McGarrett’s younger sister “with a checkered past.”
Manning, whose TV credits include the short-lived dramas “Drive” and “Get Real,” joins star Alex O’Loughlin (who’s playing McGarrett) and Daniel Dae Kim on the CBS TV Studios pilot.
Also, “Roseanne’s” Laurie Metcalf has joined the cast of Fox’s beer-soaked comedy pilot “Strange Brew,” from David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.
Warner Bros. TV is behind the pilot.
