New Fox drama “The Good Guys” will receive a major “American Idol” boost in May.

The Matt Nix skein, formerly titled “Code 58,” will bow with a special episode at 8 p.m. May 19 — before “American Idol.”

“The Good Guys,” which stars Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks as detectives, will then move to its regular Monday 9 p.m. slot starting June 7. Fox TV Studios produces “The Good Guys” under its low-cost production formula.

Also, drama “Lie to Me,” currently on hiatus, is back as “Good Guys” lead-in at 8 p.m. Mondays, also starting June 7. Fox has 12 more segments of the drama in the can.

Then there’s recently yanked drama “Past Life”; Fox will burn off that show’s extra segs at 8 p.m. Fridays starting May 28. “Past Life” will be paired with “House” repeats; once eps of “Past Life” run out on June 18, net will slide in “Bones” encores.

Hit musical comedy “Glee” bleeds into summer, airing its season one finale on June 8. Repeats of the show will then continue at 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning June 16.

On the unscripted front, “So You Think You Can Dance” premieres the day after the “Idol” finale, at 8 p.m. on May 27.

“Dance” then moves into its normal summer pattern: A two-hour performance show on Tuesdays, and a results show on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

That will make for a crowded Tuesday night competish: “Dance” will face off with “America’s Got Talent” on NBC and ABC’s “Wipeout.”

On Thursdays, Fox will air two-hour episodes of “Hell’s Kitchen” starting June 10.

New schedule means much of Fox’s summer sked will be in originals at the start of June.
