Gabourey Sidibe nabs ‘Big’ role

Oscar-nommed actress will be regular on Showtime series

Gabourey Sidibe has a post-Oscar home.

The actress, who was nominated for “Precious,” will take a recurring role in the Laura Linney series “The Big C” on Showtime after guest-starring in the Bill Condon-directed pilot.

Linney plays a wife, mother and teacher diagnosed with terminal cancer; Sidibe is a smart-aleck student in Linney’s class. Oliver Platt co-stars.

Sidibe also toplines indie pic “Yelling to the Sky.”

Shooting for “The Big C” is set to begin in May for a late summer premiere. Skein is exec produced by Linney, Darlene Hunt, Neal Moritz, Jenny Bicks and Vivian Cannon and produced by Original Film and Sony Pictures Television.
