FremantleMedia ups stake in Ludia

TV giant owns 80% of shares in vidgames company

FremantleMedia has acquired a further 51% of Ludia, the Montreal-based interactive games developer and publisher, raising its stake to 80%.

The deal is expected to be finalized before year’s end, subject to customary closing conditions and Canadian regulatory approval.

FremantleMedia plans to keep Ludia’s prexy and founder, Alex Thabet, and the management team. The deal will not impact Ludia’s third-party partnerships.

The move is part of FremantleMedia’s plan to broaden and diversify its business, and follows the recent purchase of U.S.-based branded entertainment specialist @radical.media.

FremantleMedia and Ludia have collaborated since 2008 on titles including “The Price Is Right,” “Family Feud” and “Press Your Luck.”
