‘Fred’ TV movie draws 7.6 million

Cruikshank a hit on YouTube and on Internet

Fred has serious cable cred.

Nickelodeon’s “Fred: The Movie” telepic drew 7.6 million viewers Saturday night, making it the year’s No. 1 TV movie in a handful of kids’ demos.

Starring Lucas Cruikshank as Internet and YouTube sensation Fred Figglehorn, “Fred: The Movie” was directed by Clay Weiner and written by David A. Goodman. Brian Robbins, Sharla Sumpter Bridgett, Gary Binkow, Evan Weiss and Cruikshank are exec producers.

Cruikshank is a familiar face to tween auds. He has appeared on both “iCarly” and “Hannah Montana” and has racked up millions of views of his videos.

Kid cabler has big plans for Cruikshank, who will star in the half-hour project “Marvin, Marvin,” created and exec produced by Jon Ross (“10 Things I Hate About You”).

“Fred: The Movie” will repeat Friday night on Nick.
