Action-packed movie brings out the brawn for premiere

For a film that bristles with gunfights and explosions, Lionsgate and Nu Image’s “The Expendables” evoked plenty of love at the Aug. 3 premiere at the Chinese.

“I love you guys,” Sylvester Stallone told the enthusiastic crowd as he introduced the film. “My fellow Expendables put everything they could into this.”

The black carpet featured Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin and a particularly effusive Terry Crews, who opined, “You will not see a film like this ever ever again — at least not until the sequel.”

Lundgren said he was “overjoyed” to be back on the bigscreen after more than a decade: “My favorite scenes are the ones with Sly — I think we have that great Italian-Nordic chemistry going on.”
