Kevin Ellman has been named senior veep of business and legal affairs for Nickelodeon/MTV Networks Kids and Family Group. He spent the past 11 years at Disney, most recently as veep of business affairs for Disney/ABC Cable Networks Group. Nickelodeon has also tapped Lori Silfen as veep of business and legal affairs. Silfen comes from New Line, where she was exec veep of music business and legal affairs for 14 years.
George Chien has been upped to senior veep of international networks, Asia-Pacific, for Sony Pictures TV. He joined the company in 2001 and most recently served as veep of international networks.
Gavin Harvey has been named CEO of the Sportsman Channel. Harvey comes to the New Berlin, Wis.-based cabler after holding senior management posts at Fuse, E! Entertainment and FX, among other cablers. Launched in 2003, the Sportsman Channel has a subscriber base of about 25 million homes.
NBC.com has upped Josie Ventura to veep of primetime production, while Robert Angelo has advanced to veep of latenight, daytime and mobile. Ventura joined the Peacock’s digital wing in 2001. Angelo is a five-year NBC vet.
EMI has appointed Mike Harris exec VP and general manager of EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution. Harris has been with EMI since 1997, most recently serving as exec veep and finance director of global A&R operations.
Michael Drexler has been named senior director of business development for BMI’s new media and strategic development group. Drexler, who will focus on generating more revenue for songwriters from digital outlets, comes to the performing rights org from Sony Music Entertainment.
Lisa Giannakopulos has been named senior veep of publicity and promotions for Allied Integrated Marketing. She’ll oversee the entertainment marketing shingle’s West Coast field offices. Giannakopulos worked as a marketing exec at Miramax, and more recently served as a consultant to Summit Entertainment and Columbia Pictures.
