Sherak shepherds MS event with U chairman lauded

Hollywood is a generous town. Just ask Tom Sherak, who is organizing his 18th consecutive Dinner of Champions benefiting the Southern California chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Event, set for Sept. 27 at the Century Plaza hotel, will honor Universal Pictures chairman Adam Fogelson.

The past 17 dinners have raised $39 million. This year’s tribute is special to Sherak, prexy of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, because he has known Fogelson since the exec was a teenager.

“When I called Adam he said, ‘If you need me, I’m there,’ ” Sherak says. “This is truly the most generous industry in the world.”
