Book ’em, CBS: Net has given a pilot order to its new take on “Hawaii Five-O.”
Also late Friday, Fox gave greenlights to a laffer from scribe Adam Goldberg and to the cast-contingent drama “Midland.”
Peter Lenkov is writing and exec producing “Hawaii Five-O,” a modern retelling of the classic 1970s crime drama. Also on board as exec producers are Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
CBS TV Studios produces the project, which once again revolves around Steve McGarrett, the head of an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police.
Pickup was expected, as CBS gave a pilot-sized committment to “Hawaii Five-O” last fall (Daily Variety, Oct. 9).
Fox, meanwhile, has ordered the Sony Pictures TV/ Happy Madison comedy revolving around a group of young geniuses tasked with cracking computer security systems. Seth Gordon is on board to exec produce with Goldberg and helm the pilot. “Midland,” from 20th Century Fox TV and scribe Kyle Killen, is billed as a “subversive” soap about a man in the oil biz who lives a double life.
