Giant Gallic paybox Canal Plus has added Jason Richman’s procedural drama “Detroit 1-8-7” to its 2011 programming slate.
Produced by ABC, the show toplines Michael Imperioli (“The Sopranos”) as a homicide cop working in a crime-riddled neighborhood in Detroit.
The 13-episode skein will roll on Canal Plus early next year.
The series, which lenses on location, bowed in the U.S. on ABC on Sept. 21, pulling 9 million viewers and positive response from critics, who noted the series’ faux-documentary style and authenticity, and drew parallels with “NYPD Blue.”
It’s the third U.S. show Canal Plus has picked up this year. In August the cabler acquired NBC drama “The Event” and ABC procedural “Body of Proof” for its 2011 lineup.
