Joe Biden, call your agent: ABC is developing an hourlong drama revolving around the vice president and his chief of staff.
Project, to be written by Sheldon Turner (“Up in the Air”) and Shaun Cassidy (“Invasion”) isn’t about Biden, but does center on a fictional U.S. VP and his team, led by a female chief of staff.
The drama, which comes with a strong dose of comedy, focuses on the underdog nature of the veep’s team — call it the political equivalent of “Glee.” Untitled hour is less about politics and more about office dynamics, including a budding romance between the chief of staff and the veepee’s son.
Turner and Cassidy will exec produce along with Jennifer Klein; ABC Studios is behind the project. Turner and Klein recently sold comedy “The True Adventures of a Terrible Dater,” from scribe Susan Brightbill, to CBS.
The nets appear interested in D.C.-set shows as of late. ABC is developing another show set in the District, a drama about twentysomethings fromwriter Will Fetters, through Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire shingle.
