Sitcom was uncorked in 1973

The BBC has decided to take a final quaff of possibly the world’s longest-running sitcom, which, ironically, follows the misadventures of a group of Yorkshire folk at the end of life’s journey.

But more amazing than the series’ staying power is that every episode has been written by Roy Clarke and produced and directed by Alan J. W. Bell. “Wine” was uncorked in 1973.
