Temptation singer Woodson dies

Sang 'Treat Her Like a Lady'

Latter-day Temptations lead vocalist Ali-Ollie Woodson died Sunday in Southern California of cancer. He was 58.

Woodson was not an original member of the Motown vocal group; in 1984 he replaced ex-Contours vocalist Dennis Edwards, who had himself stepped in for original lead singer David Ruffin.

His biggest hit with the group was the propulsive “Treat Her Like a Lady,” a No. 2 R&B hit and No. 48 pop entry in late ’84. He left the Temps in 1987.

Woodson’s survivors include his wife, Juanita.
