Tech blogs square off with old-school rockers

Mellencamp The Internet is less than loved in some — make that many — quarters of the old-school music biz, and lately some established stars have been lining up to claim that the new technology has been taking the food off their plates.

Just in the last week, Stevie Nicks and John Mellencamp have made sharply-worded statements about the destructive impact of the Interwebs. We might probably have expected something like that from the Artist Formerly Known As Johnny Cougar, who recorded his most recent album (pictured) in mono.

Well, some of the tech-oriented music blogs have not taken these statements lying down: We offer some amusing posts from Digital Music News and Hypebot. (And don’t miss the comments sections.)

One thing’s for sure: Since this debate continues to develop online, it’s hard to agree with the notion that the Internet is dead, as posited a couple months back by the Artist Formerly Known As the Artist Formerly Known As Prince.
