Sony Music Entertainment today is launching a classical music store, Ariama.com, which will offer CDs and downloads from more than 50 major and indie labels.
Site will initially sell physical and digital product from Sony, Warner Music Group and EMI Music labels, plus noted independents such as Naxos and Harmonia Mundi; plus classical imprints handled by digital distributor IODA. Range of product will be available as discs, high-quality MP3s and lossless digital downloads.
Ariama’s search engine will extend beyond conventional track, artist and album functions, filtering music by elements like composition, period, instrumentation, conductor, ensemble and soloist.
Home page features sections on new releases, essential recordings, “editor’s picks,” bestsellers and top crossover albums.
