Punk movie rarity “Bad Day” reappears

BadDay2.jpe Back in the Day — which would be 1986 — some friends who were active on the Los Angeles punk rock scene decided to make a short Western film. The friends in question were Exene Cervenka, the vocalist for X, and her pal Modi Frank. They enlisted some other friends and associates — ranging from a couple of future Academy Award winners to this writer's stepdaughter — and over the course of a few days out in Chatsworth they shot their silent, black-and-white Super 8 opus. It screened a handful of times locally, then disappeared.

The movie, "Bad Day," has just reappeared as a digital download at www.baddaymovie.com. It's available on a pay-what-you-will basis, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Gulf clean-up effort.
