Music agent Dave Kirby dies

TKO's clients included Papa Roach and Buckcherry

Veteran music booking agent Dave Kirby died Sept. 18 in Manhattan Beach, Calif. He was 56 and had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer last year, according to concert tracking site Pollstar.

Kirby founded the Kirby Organization (TKO) as president/chief executive officer in 2005, after 11 years with the Agency Group, where he rose to senior VP and head of the Los Angeles office.

TKO’s client list of 100 included Motorhead, Mudvayne, Life of Agony, Anthrax, Buckcherry, the Cult and Papa Roach.

After Kirby was diagnosed in 2009, he reorganized TKO with two of the company’s founding agents, Mike Monterulo and Andrew Goodfriend, installed as CEO and president, respectively.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, and sons David and Alex.
