The Latin Recording Academy will recognize a diverse multi-national group of figures with Lifetime Achievement and Trustees Awards during this year’s Latin Grammy Awards celebration.
Receiving lifetime recognition are Brazilian jazz/bossa noval pianist Joao Donato, Mexican singer-songwriter Armando Manzanero, Cuban bolero singers Las Hermanas Marquez, Dominican “king of merengue” Joseito Mateo, Colombian vallenato vocalist Jorge Onate and Argentinean singer-actress Susana Rinaldi.
Non-performers receiving the academy’s Trustees Award are Mexican evangelist, missionary and singer-songwriter Manuel Bonilla, Spanish composer and songwriter Juan Carlos Calderon and Brazilian TV hostess and actress Hebe Camargo.
Honorees will be feted Nov. 10 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. The 11th annual Latin Grammys will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Nov. 11; Univision is televising the event.
