Top-selling trio Lady Antebellum and newcomer Easton Corbin lead nominees for Fox’s newly minted American Country Awards with seven nods apiece.
Competition, network’s fan-voted equivalent of the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Assn.’s pro kudocasts, airs Dec. 6 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.
Lady Antebellum, whose sophomore Capitol set “Need You Now” has shifted nearly 2.7 million copies, was recognized in categories including artist of the year (duo or group), album of the year and single of the year.
Corbin, who busted out with his Mercury Nashville single “A Little More Country Than That,” received nods in the breakthrough artist of the year and single of the year categories. Singer’s self-titled collection has moved 252,000 units.
“American Idol” grad Carrie Underwood took six nominations, while Miranda Lambert and Josh Turner took five apiece.
Noms were determined by media measurement companies BigChampagne, Great American Country, Mediabase and Pollstar.
