Epic Records prexy Amanda Ghost will ankle the Sony Music label at the end of the year to concentrate on her songwriting and production work.
Ghost will maintain her own imprint, Outsiders, with the music firm. No successor for Ghost was named.
Columbia/Epic Label Group chairman Rob Stringer said in a statement, “Amanda has been an important creative force at Epic in the past two years, in returning to the natural focus of her artistic career, I look forward to us working together in the future.”
The North London-born Ghost succeeded Charlie Walk as president of Epic Records in February 2009. Best known as a writer, she penned James Blunt’s international hit “You’re Beautiful” and four tracks for Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce.”
Her work has earned her three Ivor Novello Awards in the U.K. and four Grammy nods.
As a performer, she waxed a solo album, “Ghost Stories,” for Warner Bros. in 2000.
