S-Curve inks deal with Universal Music

Firm has also signs Canadian license deal

Exiting a long-standing relationship with troubled EMI Music, indie imprint S-Curve Records has inked a new distribution pact with Universal Music Distribution.

Headed by founder/chief executive officer Steve Greenberg – who was briefly president of Columbia Records – S-Curve made its first commercial mark with the Baha Men’s massive 2001 hit “Who Let the Dogs Out.” Group’s roster also included English soul singer Joss Stone, pop-rock band Fountains of Wayne and pop duo Little Jackie.

Forthcoming releases under the new agreement include albums by singer-songwriters Andy Grammer and Diane Birch and Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Care Bears On Fire.

Firm has also signed an exclusive Canadian license deal with Universal Music Canada.
