The 2010 Sundance Theater Lab has announced two off-campus sessions, one in Massachusetts and one in New York, for the latest edition of its annual legit development program.

The shift in venue, to arts complex MASS MoCA (the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) and to Governors’ Island near Manhattan, was spurred by the imminent renovation to the lab’s usual space in Utah.

The MASS MoCA session, running March 28-April 11, will provide support for Adam Bock’s “A Small Fire,” helmed by Trip Cullman; Shailja Patel’s “Bwagamoyo,” directed by Liesl Tommy; and Jennifer Maisel’s “Out of Orbit,” helmed by Jackson Gay.

Also for that session, John Kelly will develop his new work “The Escape Artist” as the year’s Sundance Institute Time Warner Storytelling Fellow.

The Governors Island session, set for June 1-12, includes Jason Grote’s “Civilization” helmed by Daniel Aukin; “Look, We Are Breathing” from scribe Laura Jacqmin and director Mark Brokaw, and Harrison Rivers’ “When Last We Flew,” helmed by Colette Roberts.
