Amanda Peet, Laurie Metcalf and helmer Joe Mantello have signed on to take part in the 2010-11 season at Off Broadway’s MCC Theater.
Peet will star opposite David Duchovny in the latest from Neil LaBute, “The Break of Noon.” Actress, who previously appeared Off Broadway in LaBute’s 2005 outing “This Is How It Goes,” will play two roles in “Noon” — the wife of a man (Duchovny) who sees God in the midst of a tragedy, plus the wife’s cousin.
Metcalf and Mantello (“Wicked”) join MCC’s production of new Sharr White thriller “The Other Place.” Metcalf, recently seen on the Gotham boards in “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and “A Lie of the Mind,” toplines the story about an Alzheimer’s researcher who gets caught up in a mystery.
Mantello returns to MCC after helming the troupe’s spring offering “The Pride,” which drew crowds and spurred talk of a commercial transfer (although that future life never materialized).
“Noon,” directed by Jo Bonney, will bow Off Broadway in October ahead of a January run at the Geffen Playhouse, which co-produces. “Other Place” begins perfs in March.
