Nick Adams rounds out the lead trio in the Broadway production of tuner “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.”
Adams (“La Cage aux Folles,” “A Chorus Line”) joins Tony Sheldon, who has appeared in the show in Oz and on the West End, and Will Swenson (“Hair”) in the musical. Thesps star as three drag performers who take a road trip through the Outback in the titular bus.
Nathan Lee Graham (“Wig Out!”), James Brown III (“The Little Mermaid”), Steve Schepis (“Finian’s Rainbow”), J. Elaine Marcos and Keala Settle also are in the cast.
Adapted by Stephan Elliot (who wrote and directed the 1994 pic on which the tuner is based) and Allan Scott, the tuner has a score that incorporates several disco-era hits. Simon Phillips directs.
Musical bowed in Sydney in 2006 and has been playing in London for a year. North American production is skedded to play a 12-week run in Toronto that begins perfs in October, ahead of a spring Broadway opening with exact dates and venue to be announced.
