Packers fans got all the Dave Robinson they could handle at the after-party for Broadway’s “Lombardi.” The Edison Hotel hosted Robert Christopher Riley, who plays Robinson in the show, and the man himself, who met Riley for the first time as the two were being photographed alongside Dan Lauria and Judith Light.
“I’d only talked to (Riley) on the phone,” Robinson recalled. “He wanted to get a couple of inflections in my voice, but he didn’t have my characterizations — how I walk and how I move. Maybe he’ll get those today.”
Playing Packers linebacker Robinson, Riley said Thursday he was glad he’d had some experience with the sport himself, but found he preferred acting after his freshman year in college. “I figured I could play a football player longer than I could play football,” said the thesp. – — Sam Thielman
