The Public Theater has named Sandra E. Davis as its new director of development.
Davis brings two decades of nonprofit fund-raising knowledge, with prior posts at orgs including Seattle Opera, the New York Philharmonic and, most recently, the Metropolitan Opera, where she served as director of leadership gifts and special campaigns.
At the Public she replaces Casey Reitz, who departed to become exec director of Second Stage Theater.
One of the first tasks ahead for Davis is leading the Public’s renovation campaign, which kicked off in March. Renovations are to include a complete facelift of the company’s Astor Place building.
“I am thrilled to join a company that has given so much to the people of New York and has made so many important contributions to the history of American theater,” said Davis, who starts her new position at the Public in October.
